Cuisine - Wholesome country cooking

St Francis Culinary Centre (restaurant), Somerset East, Eastern Cape

The guesthouse offers the unique experience of enjoying wholesome country cooking, served in a 100 year old church. The old Roman Catholic church - St Francis - was built in 1906, and celebrates its centenary by being christened as lounge, dining room, pub and kitchen.

Meals are served daily from 6 pm to 8 pm.  Meals can be served at specific times, and can be arranged with us.  A simple menu is provided for these meals with one hour's notice required.  Please note that the kitchen is closed on Tuesdays.

Breakfast is served in Hobson's Choice Deli next door to St Francis.  Hobson's Choice Deli also caters for meals during the course of the day.  Please note that Hobson's Choice is closed on Tuesdays.

Fresh trout is one of our specialities.  Please note however, if you would like trout for dinner that we would need to be advised in advance.  The trout would be freshly caught, and as any fisherman knows, weather and fish are not guaranteed!

At the Angler and Antelope, we also cater for private functions of between 6 and 20 guests.  The menu can be anything from finger food to a three course meal, just give us a call to discuss your requirements.  The venue is private and therefore perfect for business functions where sensitve information may be discussed.  The Angler and Antelope is fully licensed, and has a large Malt Whisky selection, as well as a variety of local beer and wine.  Bookings must be made in advance.
